New "Free" Bus Service in Lower Manhattan

December 6, 2003 - As of November 20, residents and visitors of Lower Manhattan enjoy a free bus service called "The Downtown Connection", courtesy of the "Alliance for Downtown New York".

The Downtown Connection has a fleet of seven buses that can carry up to 20 seated passengers and are wheelchair accessible. The service is provided seven days a week every ten minutes between 10am and 8pm; and riders can hop on and off the bus as they please.

The U-shaped route connects the South Street Seaport and the northern tip of Battery Park City and its 17 stops are conveniently located mainly on Water Street and Battery Place.

The Downtown Connection bus stops are shared with other bus lines and are identified as "NN".
