New York City, better known as "The Big Apple" and commonly referred as "The Capital of the World" is a spectacular place to live and visit. Every corner of this city is amazingly special for both lifelong residents and occasional visitors. It is the largest city in the United States and the home of the United Nations, the center of global finance, communications, business and entertainment.

New York is unusual among cities because of its high residential density, its extraordinarily diverse population, its hundreds of tall office and apartment buildings and its more than 400 distinct neighborhoods.

New York's ensemble of cultural activities has enriched millions of visitors from around the globe with its concert houses, museums, galleries, and theaters.

Geography

Unlike most American cities, which make up only a part of a particular county, New York is made up of five separate counties, which are called boroughs and they are: Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island.

The Bronx is the only borough on the mainland of the United States. Manhattan and Staten Island are surrounded by water, while Queens and Brooklyn are part of Long Island.  We will concentrate on Manhattan for the time being and will update our site with information about the outer boroughs soon...

It is extremely easy to move around Manhattan, "The City", thanks to the mapping of the Island. Avenues cut the city from north to south while streets run through it from east to west. Broadway runs diagonally across the Island while the East and West sides are divided by Fifth Ave and Central Park. The city is washed by the Hudson River on the west and the East River on the east.

We are certain that you will enjoy every bit of the city no matter how long you get to stay.
